Members of the Civil Protection Department on Thursday rescued a woman who was lost while trekking at l-Ahrax tal-Mellieha.
The department said in a Facebook post that it received a report of a female individual who became lost while trekking in the L-Aħrax area of Mellieħa.
CPD rescuers from Fire Stations 1, 3, and 5 were immediately deployed and initiated search operations. The individual was subsequently located in a difficult to access area. Rescuers had to descend using rope access techniques to reach her.
CPD rescue swimmers then assisted the casualty onto the CPD Delta 2 vessel using an inflatable stretcher, after which she was safely transferred to shore.
The casualty sustained only slight injuries, the CPD said.
